Luton Youth Cantores’ Paris Tour

Paris had the opportunity to enjoy the sounds and songs of the Luton Youth Cantores Choir on their recent trip to the city. The choir, made up of 53 girls, aged between 12 and 19, gave two performances during their stay.  The first was at the Videopolis Stage at Disneyland Paris where they performed a variety of songs, including a medley of tunes from many of the Disney films.  The second performance took place at the Eglise de la Madeleine, a famous church in the centre of Paris, where they sang for an audience of more than 300 in both English and French.

The tour was organised by Kerry Watson, the Luton Music Service manager and director of the choir, who was thrilled with the success of the visit.  “We all had an amazing time and it was a real honour to be able to perform at these two very different venues.  As well as performing we also had the opportunity to spend a day at Disneyland Paris and travel around the city to visit some of the famous sites.”

Cllr Mahmood Hussain, Portfolio Holder for children and young people said:  “This was a wonderful opportunity for these young people to perform in this exciting city.  They are an amazing talent and great ambassadors for Luton.” The tour was supported by the Rotary Club of Luton Someries who helped to raise funds for the tour and many of whom travelled to Paris to watch the performance at the church. Further funding for the tour was provided by Luton Borough Council’s Your Say, Your Way community funding scheme.
