Luton Youth Jazz Orchestra

Luton Youth Jazz Orchestra (LYJO) was formed in 2002 and has grown to be one of the Music Service’s flagship ensembles. LYJO has been fortunate to work with some exceptional musicians, including Gordon Goodwin, Clark Tracey, Ian Shaw and Jacqui Dankworth. They were finalists at the National Festival of Music for Youth in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2014 and 2019, playing in many prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall at the School Proms in 2007 and 2014.

For many of the young performers, LYJO offered their first introduction to jazz, some loving it so much that they went on to study jazz at conservatoires or to form jazz groups themselves.
